King Solomon is considered one of the wealthiest kings in history, as well as one of history's wisest rulers. During his 40-year reign, Solomon built Israel into a regional power and established diplomatic relationships that brought peace to the region. However, at the end of his life Solomon became corrupted by pride and power. His moral decay led to the division of his kingdom, and sowed the seeds for Israel's eventual destruction.
