Never noticed Collingwood was a contemporary of the Oxford philosophers; he is always acknowledged as a practical historian by Chinese readers who know him through but *The Idea of History* and his *Autobiography*, despite the other dozen of his books. Less interested in the philosophy of education, I might have, however, underrated this book.
