The Melbourne Design Guide is the friend you always wanted to have. There is a Chinese Proverb that says, "A book is like a garden, carried in a pocket." Well, that's not true for this book. Because it isn't just a garden, its an entire city! Also, we really hope our pockets are big enough to fit this little 450 page tome!
It took over a year to make the guide, which was edited by Viviane Stappmanns, designed by Chase and Galley and published by Alphabet Press.
The book consists of two parts and can be read from either end. The first part invites you to explore design destinations in Melbourne. It includes profiles on local architecture, jewellery, craft, furniture and much more. The second part of the book, entitled Learn, consists of profiles on local designers who don't have a public face or store, or those whose work cannot be seen from the street.
