比起漫画版，文字版的Moomin故事时不时溜进一条黑影，这黑影是恐惧，这恐惧由想象放大。但也有属于Moominvalley的明媚色调，一只小Creep因为有了名字（Snufkin给起的）而觉得生命有了意义，喜静的Helulen为孩子们建了一座沉默的游乐场，正如大门外透过锁孔看不见里面静静地嬉戏的孩子，整部作品也呈现出这样一种隐秘的欢乐。

姆明这个系列的小说我觉得不能归入儿童读文。

幾個毫不相干的短篇故事。第1，2，4篇較好，其他一般。插圖風格跟其他幾本不一樣，是速寫塗鴉簡筆畫，最後一幅聖誕樹比較好。總體而言一般般。
