This volume describes and illustrates 283 drawings by Italian artists of the eighteenth century in the museum's collection. Entries for the drawings provide essential bibliographical references, provenance, and a discussion of the purpose of the drawing, when known.
More than 90 artists, including many of the great masters of the period, are represented in the 308 works on paper reproduced (in duotone) and described in this handsome volume, which serves as a guide to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's large collection and as a catalog of the exhibition held at the Museum in late 1990.
371 illustrations, 1 in full color, 320 pages, 8-1/2 x 11". Exhibition opens at the Metropolitan in September.
