John was born with Down Syndrome. When we took him home, we left the Down Syndrome in the hospital and only deal with it when we have to. John is the middle child of five children. They are all loved and treated the same. Johnas story tells of his birth, school years, the things he did and got into, and stories about his travels and the places he has visited. It tells about the devotion his family has for him. His brother, Richard, started John on the road and gave him the determination to become an Eagle Scout. Johnas undertaking that quest led to six other awards, five presidential sports awards, and being on CNN twice. John was the first person with Down Syndrome to receive the Gold Congressional Award. When he appeared on CNN, he proved to the world that even though a person has Down Syndrome, they can still do a lot if given a chance.
