Maude Baylor, a dedicated Sunday school teacher in the small town of Marshall, Illinois, is living a peaceful existence. She is a retired Army sniper from the Vietnam era, and that is where Maudeas lifestyle takes a sharp turn Thanks to her thorough training in the Army, she is somewhat successful as a hired assassin. As her cache of money grows, so do her problems. An attempt to expand her profits by hiring a new recruit goes sour, and Maude finds herself constantly dodging the authorities. From Montana to Las Vegas and on to Arizona, Maude is always on the go when all she is really trying to do is earn a little extra cash.
