馮內果這麼一本經典有趣的小說居然沒有中譯？舊人類在地球上滅絕，新人類在加拉帕戈斯群島上進化（退化）。這本有很多與《五號屠場》的共性。馮這次故意劇透，在快被他寫死的人名前打星號，和《五號屠場》裏最常齣現的死亡標記“so it goes”如齣一轍；無頭鬼魂第一人稱“我”的科幻小說傢父親Kilgore Trout再次串起馮氏構建的世界觀；加拉帕戈斯群島是達爾文進化論産生的根基，而馮在《屠場》裏又是怎麼說的呢：Tralfamadore星人最喜歡的地球人是Charles Darwin -- who taught those who die are meant to die, corpses are improvements. 總之這個時期讀馮內果真是太喪瞭。

The story is a big bang comedy rather than evolutionary. Humanity dismayed the world which frustrated a million years ago. Vonnegut tried to cut out a time and a space from the cosmos, then characteristic people showed off their greed and ambition before the culture in mainland and mankind all disappeared. Vonnegut always has his own language.
