评分全是維多利亞晚期的詩篇，更多側重於錶現當時社會的主流思想及意識形態，主要有英國東印度公司所創造的殖民神話破滅、阿富汗戰爭後，對殖民地、以及戰爭的看法，以he Ballad of East and West為代錶。政治曆史考據性比文學鑒賞性高，但不代錶沒什麼鑒賞餘地，譬如Gunga Din還是挺活潑詼諧的。
