~ Venereal disease has reached epidemic
proportions among the young,
~ There are more than 100 murders per
year in U.S. schools, and 70.000 as-
saults on teachers.
~ One third of all ahortions in the United
States are obtained by teen-agers.
What is responsible for the promiscuity,
hedonism, violence and rebellion that is
on the rise among the young people of
America? More and more, it is becoming
obvious that the roots of" the problem lie
in the home. Parents find themselves in-
creasingly unable to teach, communicate
and discipline their children. It is not
that we don t care ahout our kids. We do.
It s just that when we see all of society s
problems, we feel inadequate to deal
with them ourselves. We turn our chil-
dren over to the experts, the agencies.
and the institutions because we don t
know where to find the answers for our-
selves, But there is one authority to
which we can turn for every answer, no
matter how difficult the problem. That
authority is the Bible.
God has made a promise to all parents,
" Train up a child in the way he should
go, and when he is old he will not depart
from it" (Proverbs 22:6 . We cannot insu-
late our children from the alcoholism, the
cults, and promiscuity that pervade our
culture, but we can teach them the right
way to respond to these influences. Anita
