ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Batya Weinbaum was raised in In-
diana and has lived in New York City
for the last five years. While working
as a photographer and journalist in
AI]ende s Chile, her interest was
sparked in radical economics, poli-
tics and feminist theory. Curious
Courtship will be followed by a
sequel, Pictures of Patriarchy, pre-
senting the kin categories derived
in this, her first book. She is also
working on a novel. Her work (writ-
ings and photos) have appeared in
many publications including Big
Mama Rag, Conditions, The Guard-
ian, tteresies, Liberation News Ser-
vice, Monthly Review, Photo Re-
porter, Popular Photography, Quest,
Review of Radical Political Econo-
mics, Second Wave, Seven Days,
West End Review of Poetry and
