The Summer Poems<br >1.<br >In the mail， pictures of money;<br >I thought they were postcards from Arcady.<br > In the groves， desire， a letter from Ovid.<br > On Riverside Drive， albums of flowers.<br > The trees insist summer s a comedy，<br > & I laugh， & go to the movies:<br > tourists， equivocal voyagers<br > of the double-feature， enyants du paradis，<br > in the room the music moves through its changes;<br > even the sun can go no further.<br > At midsummer the fire escapes our balcony.<br > We watch the weddings. We watch the trains go by.<br > One hour at evening we drink the gardens.<br >
