From the perspective of bibliographic education, the concept of an "information society" is very appealing. The appellation itself brings focus to the very substance of librarianship, libraries, and research. That an entire culture and period in time have been so designated attests to the value and significance of information. Widespread use of the term has stimulated general interest in the production and acquisition of information. Teaching librarians can capitalize on this fascination by making it a context for the presentation of library skills.
