We have discovered that one of the greatest barriers to
reaching out to the world is the tendency to "programmize" the
gospel. By this we mean the packaging/of the good news into
formal outreach schemes. This comes from a sincere desire to
bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We
have no argument with that good goal. The problem is, these
programs leave us with the idea that telling others about Christ
is an unusual activity for Christians, that ministry is so unnat-
ural that we have to receive special training to serve as salt and
light in today s world
