Introduction to Special Education (8th ed.) by Daniel P. Hallahan and

James M. Kauffman. This Guide follows the chapter sequence of your

text. It brings critical points to your attention and it offers you sample

questions which will guide your preparation for examinations.

Furthermore, it offers you exercises which require you to think

independently, synthesize your knowledge, and analyze your growing

understanding of the field.

This Study Guide is a guidebook in the classical sense. Guidebooks are

designed to show travelers the way through an unfamiliar and even

remote terrain. This Guide is designed to show you the way as you

journey through countless new facts, concepts, and ideas. It is intended

to focus your study, organize your ideas, and give you multiple

opportunities to use your knowledge in question after question. This

Using This Study Guide

This Study Guide contains thirteen chapters. Each chapter contains five

subsections which are designed to serve several purposes. First, each

chapter provides you with a guide to important points to remember and

ideas to evaluate in each area of exceptionality. Second, new vocabulary

concepts, and ideas are selected from each chapter of your textbook and

listed along with their page numbers. You are asked to define each term.

Following this, numerous questions and their answers are provided for

each chapter. These are designed to assist you in your preparation for

examinations. Finally, the enrichment activities are designed to enhance

and extend your understanding of the field of special education.
