From Publishers Weekly Sporting an assortment of fangs, horns, antennae, tails and colorful headgear, ten winsome monsters balance on top of a brick wall. One by one, the goofy green guys "accidentally fall" from their lofty perch. Each full page spread features a flap that lifts to reveal the gloriously undignified details (a lot of funny faces and such classic playground shrieks as "YAAIIIEEEK," "WHOOOAH" and "HAIIYAAAH") of every tumble. Down on the ground, the monsters help one another up, compare bruises and realize that their falls were not accidents after all--each has been pushed! When at last the culprit--a monster wearing a suspiciously innocent grin--reveals himself, his victims take their revenge. Along with a subtraction lesson, this zippy book offers some good advice about playground manners. But most of all, it offers plenty of rambunctious silliness. Ages 4-8. Copyright 1994 Reed Business Information, Inc. From Kirkus Reviews An unusually appealing book with a number of surefire features, not least of which are the eponymous monsters ``standing on the wall'' who, one by one, ``accidentally fall'' in the classic tradition--as revealed by opening a broad flap on each spread. Each stumpy, grinning monster is individualized by its cheery garments and unique appendages (also, one has a yoyo and one a book); as those on the ground grow more numerous, they commiserate amiably with one another and eventually realize--as alert readers will already have done--that one of their number has been mischievously pushing the rest. After he gets his just deserts, young readers are sure to go back to the beginning to check out the preceding byplay once again; fortunately, the sturdy pages and binding should withstand plenty of rereadings.
