《新編實用英語教師參考書1+2(北京版)》係列教材是由教育部高職高專教育英語課程教學指導委員會根據《高職高專教育英語課程教學基本要求(試行)》組織編寫的。《《新編實用英語教師參考書1+2(北京版)》(北京版)係列教材是在“普通高等教育‘十一五’國傢級規劃教材”《《新編實用英語教師參考書1+2(北京版)》第二版的基礎上修訂而成。本套教材認真貫徹瞭“學一點、會一點、用一點”、“聽、說、讀、寫、譯並重”和“邊學邊用、學用結閤”的原則，注重聽說技能訓練，注重對實用文體閱讀能力的培養，將應用語言基本功的能力與實際涉外交際相結閤。

本套教材還注重“教、學、考”相互照應。學完第2冊可參加“高等學校英語應用能力考試”的B級考試，學完第3冊成績優秀者可參加A級考試。

《新編實用英語教師參考書》為《新編實用英語教師參考書》(北京版)第1、2冊閤編本，全書包括第1冊和第2冊各8個單元，每個單元都由“文化背景知識介紹”、“課文難點注釋”、“重點詞匯學習”，以及“聽力材料”、“參考譯文”和“練習答案”。此外，《新編實用英語教師參考書》各單元還分彆列齣瞭課時進度安排和參考教案，供教師參考進行教學。
