This book contains an extraordinary and unique visual record of the conditions in which the prisoners of war of the Japanese lived in Hong Kong. Alexander Skvorzov, risking his life, secretly sketched and hid his work during his imprisonment in Shamshuipo and Argyle Street camps.
His fellow prisoners were British, Canadian, Australian, Indian and other military units plus men from all walks of life who joined the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps to defend Hong Kong from a Japanese attack.
The illustrations in this book portray the ordeal of their three years and eight months of imprisonment.
