Golding's best-known novel is the story of a group of boys who, after a plane crash, set up a fragile community on a previously uninhabited island. As memories of home recede and the blood from frenzied pig-hunts arouses them, the boys' childish fear turns into something deeper and more primitive.

多年后终于读了标准中学生读物。Educational Edition的notes部分仿佛边读边浮现老师参照给的问题让学生回答。书末Fable还蛮好的。"I must say that anyone who moved through those years without understanding that man produces evil as a bee produces honey, must have been blind or wrong in the head" 然后说自己是个optimist……
评分二十年前看过中文版，细节都忘光了，这次“重读”，才感到它的寓意之精深，和景物、心理、语言描写的登峰造极。
评分代表真理的Simon丧命，代表智慧的Piggy的死亡，最终仅存的代表理性与秩序的Ralph奄奄一息，无力与代表原始与兽性的Jack抗衡。只有那滴着血的断猪头咧着嘴笑。 恶在恐惧中发芽，在人性中生长。根本便是civility与savagery的对抗。 人性很脆弱。

评分人之初，性本恶。被社会秩序所封印的原始欲望在与世隔绝的荒岛上复苏，于是文明之火熄灭、民主之螺粉碎、科学之镜破裂。从纯真童心最深处开出的恶之花野蛮地渴求着先知与智者的鲜血。 好像有点剧透了。总之是本丧心病狂但超好看的书。这几天睡觉前一闭眼就看见那个叮满苍蝇的猪头在我面前诡笑，不知要多久才能摆脱这个阴影 ????
