Stella, Kate and Victoria. Three schoolgirl friends, reunited after many years. Despite losing touch their lives are intertwined in a way none can have imagined. Wealthy Stella, once widowed and now divorced from her second husband, is involved with Kate's about-to-be ex - a fading film star with unusual tastes and habits. Poor sweet Victoria - the death of whose loving doctor husband is funding some of those habits, and those of Kate's unruly stepson. The death of a couple of sheep, allegedly harassed by Victoria's adorable and friendly dog, aren't the only murders for Detective Inspector Hayes to investigate, as a Tale of Two Cities, London and Paris - not to mention a country cottage - begins to unwind, shattering the peace and tranquillity of the local community.
