喜歡 Bread Givers 的讀者還喜歡

完全不同的文化背景與傳統，小說中父親的觀點和行為really shocking。

語言簡單樸質，感情真摯，不過總覺得對於Sara如何在艱苦環境下學習、如何適應大學生活這部分話語時間太少，一下就跳過瞭。

課上談論到父親形象，大傢都不能理解他的宗教理念和自私，老師卻說批判一個人很容易，但當想到這個人自小生長在特定的文化環境下 被這樣的觀念熏陶至此，其“自私”可能也要被辯證看待瞭。 想到瞭巴金的《傢》，年輕一輩在傳統價值理念下的掙紮，但bread giver多瞭一層文化衝突 更顯性瞭。

一開始看的時候還是很痛苦，一旦投入進去之後反而被它語言的質樸給吸引瞭，literature課上聯係瞭Jewish America來讀，覺得Father這個角色簡直amazing……居然沒有中譯本，可惜。

關於一個移民美國的猶太傢庭的書。很殘忍而現實的故事。自己住的lower east side直至今天還是最底層的人們的聚集地，問題總是被反映卻一直沒有得到解決。每一個爸爸都應該讀的書，隻可惜中文譯本還沒有齣來。
