吳芬，抗日戰爭尾聲齣生於四川重慶，1963年由上海考入北京大學西語係英語專業，1968年畢業。自1975年起在對外經濟貿易大學（原北京外貿學院）任教，現為英語係教授，並從事中古英語文學研究工作。曾參與北京大學《歐洲文學史》、北京外國語大學《英國文學史》中中古部分的編寫，並在《外國文學評論》上發錶三篇論文。

The tragedy of Troilus and Criseyde is one of the greatest narrative poems in English literature.
