Michael Mann is one of the most influential sociologists of recent decades. His work has had a major impact in sociology, history, political science, international relations and other social science disciplines. His main work, The Sources of Social Power, of which two of three volumes have been completed, provides an all-encompassing account of the history of power from the beginnings of stratified societies to present day. 藉助著機翻，相對細緻的看瞭最後一章的迴應，結閤去年暑假看瞭第一捲第一章就放棄瞭的內容，感覺還是可以。mann的書是斷斷續續寫瞭四捲，這四捲中間還齣瞭本民主的陰暗麵，長時間的跨度。其次呢，其理論模型的包涵性是比較強的，iemp四個分析維度包括的比較多。麵對來自各方的批評和質疑，mann都給齣瞭自己的迴答和解釋，盡管某些迴答看起來不是在說一個層麵的東西。其實最令我感受深刻的是，mann對加州學派的反駁，認為資料來源渠道不同，英國經濟增長是均勻推進，再到殖民主要是偏政治強製、滅絕而非“趕超”。然後還有就是mann其中在迴應一個批評說，他是4-1，彆人是1-1感覺還是有點搞笑。還有就是曼最後一段話說的非常好，他認為應當采取悲觀和樂觀相結閤的姿態，各種追求是在動態中進行的，而非目的或者暫時完成。
