著者簡介

Giovanni Arrighi was professor of sociology at the Johns Hopkins University. Among his books is The Long Twentieth Century: Money, Powe r, and the Origins of Our Times (1994).

Beverly J. Silver is an American scholar of labor and development whose work has been translated into over twelve languages. She is a professor of Sociology at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

世界體係試圖橫跨曆史社會學和國際關係之作，略取巧，基本將雙方文字可互通之概念閤體即可，大量觀點已在長二十世紀中錶明，對於東亞仍有說不清道不明的單戀迷思。於國關而言，引入資本、社會階層（勞工反抗與運動）和東西方文明對抗作為國傢間政治體係發展的動力，將IPE與傳統基於權力之國關理論打通；更有批判視角則是強調國際體係生成的資本主義/金融擴張基底，擴張與危機循環下現存國際體係在復雜性和全球包容度上增強、但又“辯證”地齣現舊式組織的循環。於社會學而言則主要是探討從韋伯馬剋思到葛蘭西的資本主義擴張與霸權理論在國際體係中實現之可能性，及長時段曆史、跨國資本流動與階層互動作為跨國社會發展動力的探索。
