著者簡介

Angus Hyland is a partner at Pentagram Design London. His work for Laurence King includes The Picture Book (2010, with Steven Bateman), Symbol (2011), and The Purple Book (2013). Caroline Roberts is a journalist and author who writes mainly about the graphic arts. She is the co-author of New Book Design, Cut & Paste: 21st-Century Collage, and most recently 50 Years of Illustration. She was the founder of Grafik magazine.

總算轉迴來瞭，這一圈繞的。讀完。從貓的角度看人，人是可有可無，從人的角度看貓，You are my cat, and I'm your human. 哈哈。這本書的閱讀方式可以很多，貓是什麼樣的動物，人畫傢詩人和貓的故事，或者，以貓串起來的簡明繪畫史。編者選取作品的範圍廣泛，從文藝復興到當代繪畫，從“名傢”到“素人”，不同國傢地區，不同媒介，在一本小畫冊裏看到筆觸機理綫條色彩等等形式語言的鮮明對比。Christopher Wood 的經曆令人唏噓。最荒唐的事情莫過於，藝術傢貧苦睏頓，而所謂的收藏傢賺的盆滿鉢滿。剝削的形式也很多樣。什麼跨界，不過是為瞭多幾種生存手段，而藝術錶達也因此更豐富充實。

畫中的貓，現代的作品比較多，每一幅貓選的都好看，各有各的美好。當然也收錄瞭一些名傢的作品：大衛霍剋尼，戈雅的作品和達芬奇的手稿貓（哈哈手稿貓）。
