Daniel and his mom spend every summer with Grandpa at his cottage by the sea. Daniel loves these summer visits: playing baseball, walking on the beach, watching the sunset, and hearing Grandpa's stories of his days and nights on the fishing boat. As the summer passes, Grandpa changes. Daniel comes to understand that with Alzheimer's disease, Grandpa will have trouble finding all the things that belong to him, his clothes, his words, his memories, and eventually Grandpa will not remember who Daniel is. Through gentle narration and easy-to-understand explanations, Daniel learns about Alzheimer's disease and how this illness can affect the entire family. Includes Note to Parents with resource list for parents and children. Full-color illustrations throughout. For children ages 6-10.
