著者簡介
埃曼努埃爾·吉貝爾（Emmanuel Guibert），1964年生於法國巴黎，在20世紀90年代“法國新漫畫”運動中崛起，成為少有的既受廣大讀者歡迎，又得到專傢、評委青睞的漫畫傢。曾獲法國安古蘭國際漫畫節“心動奬”“年度漫畫奬”、漫畫評論人與新聞人協會評論大奬、布盧瓦 漫畫節大奬、美國艾斯納最佳國際漫畫奬等諸多重要奬項。另有《阿蘭的童年》《攝影師》等重要作品。
譯者：孟蕊，四川大學法德文係本科畢業，從事翻譯。譯有《優雅與權勢》《高盧英雄》等書。

一套三册。 前两册有意思，最后一册看的有些吃力（写的是战后作者个人生活的内容）。 一天一本，三天看完。 另眼看二战， 内容逗趣。 不英雄但却朴实吸引人；虽说发生的都是战争里的琐事，但却构成奇特的人生。 不管处在哪个年代，乐趣这东西，要靠自己发现。

评分Ah! Extremely beautiful and fascinating, which simply touches the bottom as well as very high end of life and soul.
评分少有的幾本我會把每一個字，包括序言和結尾acknowledgment全都一字不落的看下來的書。人生本來就是一場war，還好Alan有那麼多到老瞭還可以聯係上的朋友。非常喜歡作者的畫風，看完後十分捨不得，於是立馬買瞭這一本的續篇“How the world was: A California Childhood”。
评分二戰老兵口述曆史，難忘往事漫畫呈現。本書故事沒有戲劇性情節，沒有宏大敘事，有的隻是真切溫暖的瑣事細節，那是一位老人一生的積澱，人生況味盡在於此。
