終於讀完瞭狄更斯所有長篇。狄更斯說《Martin Chuzzlewit》是“in a hundred points immeasurably the best of [his] stories”。這部跟《聖誕頌歌》同時期的小說，也探討瞭人類的貪婪與自私，不知道狄更斯晚年何以變得如此陰暗。最讓我驚訝的是，是狄更斯居然1844年就寫齣瞭“美國夢的幻滅”，太有前瞻性瞭吧。奈何結局生硬，我猜老瞿述偉之前都是裝病！
