第一次读灵异小说，这本书叙述的故事给人一种非常真实的感觉，因为每个故事都提供很多详细的细节，感觉像是根据真实事件改编的，尽管多数故事的篇幅都不长，但是仍然提供了很多让人兴奋的故事情节，比如“The Rose Garden”，“Number 13”，“Casting The Runes”，“Martin's Close”都很精彩，相信曾经被广为流传过，酒店13号房间闹鬼，通过写在纸上的咒语来诅咒，被谋杀的人死后持续现身，梦里体验以前死去的人经历的事情，应该是根据folklore改编的。
