著者簡介

KAZUO ISHIGURO was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954 and moved to Britain at the age of 5. He is the author of 6 novels: A Pale View of Hills (1982, Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize), An Artist of the Floating World (1986, Whitbread Book of the Year Award, Premio Scanno, shortlisted for the Booker Prize), The Remains of the Day (1989, winner of the Booker Prize), The Unconsoled (1995, winner of the Cheltenham Prize), When We Were Orphans (2000, shortlisted for the Booker Prize) and Never Let Me Go (2005, Corine Internationaler Buchpreis, Serono Literary Prize, Casino de Santiago European Novel Award, shortlisted for the Booker Prize). Nocturnes (2009), his connected stories collection, was awarded the Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa International Literary Prize. In 1995 Ishiguro received an OBE for Services to Literature and in 1998 the French decoration of Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

一開始感覺誤入玄幻史詩遊戲，龍啊，食人獸啊，總覺得有點中二/行文一如既往地清晰，雖然講的是一個記憶被迷霧掩蓋的故事，有一種遠古的古典氣息/第四本石黑一雄，每一本的風格相差太大，各種設定下都沒有令人失望/兩條主綫，國仇+傢恨，兩難的選擇/開篇非常好，一下子進入瞭情境/最後的結局耐人尋味，船夫是死神無疑瞭，但是兩夫妻找迴瞭所有記憶後，互相諒解瞭嗎？Axl沒有上船，也沒有在岸邊等待，應該是與妻子分開瞭，隻是兩人是在怎樣的心情下分開的，這一點其實也沒有明說/這纔是第一流作品吧，沒有一個明確答案，卻不讓你大呼上當，因為本來就不是要給你一個答案來著

perhaps my English fails me as it took effects to catch the unqiue tune of narratives ,yet a sense lingered to suggest there are true undersurface unspoken.

This is better than I thought, very different from his other novels, as I grew tired of his first-person narrative seen in his other novels, this is a pleasant surprise. Beautiful prose, interesting theme but just scratching the surface.

石黑一雄2015年的作品The Buried Giant《被埋葬的巨人》，選取瞭英國古代亞瑟王統治剛結束的時期。使用瞭魔幻小說的風格加上他一貫講故事的技巧。故事中心人物是一對老年夫婦，備受記憶與失憶（memory and loss是作傢小說沿用的一個主題）的睏擾。在這對夫婦的旅途上他們遇到神秘的擺渡人，食人魔，妖精，巨龍以及屠龍騎士，在模糊的記憶邊緣，他們相互提醒要記得走過的路，以及他們在尋找什麼。對曆史冤屈的忘記預示著新的暴行的到來，也是在末尾屠龍階段石黑一雄想要錶達的東西之一。
