In all her books, Melling cleverly overlaps the fairy world with the modern one, so that in certain places an unsuspecting or foolhardy human can get caught up in the fairy world, perhaps never to escape. In this second book in the series, which features some of the characters from the previous book in minor roles, teen Laurel's twin sister, Honor is killed trying to rescue the fairy realm by finding the Summer King. So Laurel, the non-believer, is left to mourn her sister and complete her quest. In the process, she comes to see that there is magic in the world and that love can be found in unexpected places. Lush descriptions of Ireland, romance, and Celtic mythology make this a satisfying read for fans of the previous book and anyone who loves Ireland.
