Ages 4 to 8 years. Based on an ancient French folktale, this enduring story unfolds in a modern-day American vineyard in California. Baby Grapette, a tiny green grape in a little green dress, is thrilled by her surroundings and yearns to see more of the world. She manages to work free of her vine and roll merrily away across the fields, but -- like Curious George -- she is too curious. After encounters with birds, cats, and cows, Grapette decides she has seen enough and is happy to go rollicking back to the love and safety of home. Providing a lesson about the need to control headstrong impulses, the story also celebrates the thrill of independence and the joy of running around outdoors.
