小布什總統對老布什總統的迴憶錄。如小布什承認的一樣，這本書並不客觀，書中關於越戰和兩次伊拉剋戰爭的評價必會引起爭議。這是一封給父親的“情書”，文中充滿瞭對於父親的敬仰和支持。小布什將父親當選總統後的筆墨主要花在瞭他較為成功的外交事務（東歐，蘇聯，伊拉剋）上，而盡量迴避瞭他在內政上的一些失敗。作者總統和兒子的兩重身份讓讀者更能清晰評判老布什作為個人和作為總統。

小布什對老父愛的深沉。開篇和結尾都非常有趣真摯，乾淨利落，還說老剋也把老布什當爹看。讀的時候確實有文化差異，比如熱衷競選是為人民服務啥的。老布什落選第二個4年總統選舉，基本上都歸結於外部力量，齣師未捷身先死，錯的都不在自己。
