重讀有不一樣的感覺，似乎更感同身受瞭。所有失落的夢想，無望的生活，無法排解的孤獨，還有對陪伴的渴望，訴說與被傾聽的渴望——經過這一年的煎熬過後，再度讀來，好像通通變得真實可感瞭。陪伴是重要的，說話是必要的，理解是次要的。閱讀中想起《心是孤獨的獵手》。斯坦貝剋同麥卡勒斯乃至海明威一樣，傾嚮於通過描寫動作和話語來暗示人物心理，而不是像福剋納那樣直接描寫人物心理。說著容易，做好卻很難。但是，《人鼠》和《心》都做到瞭：分毫不輸那邊廂的意識流，不動聲色同樣可以産生靈魂的震顫。
