Geng Song, Ph.D. (2000), University of Hong Kong, is Associate Professor of China Studies and Translation Studies at that university. Among his publications are The Fragile Scholar (HKU Press, 2004) and Rethinking Chinese Television (Routledge, forthcoming).

Derek Hird, Ph.D. (2009), University of Westminster, is Lecturer in Chinese and Research Fellow in Asian Studies at that university. He has published several articles on Chinese men and masculinities, mostly with a focus on white-collar men.

Through carefully exploring the global, regional and local influences on men and representations of men in postmillennial China, Song and Hird show that Chinese masculinity is anything but monolithic. 宋耕對中國語境裏的“宅男”是不是有什麼誤解，拿一部網絡小說當例子，把“宅男”描述成柔弱的、女性化的、學究氣的，癡情的、類似於古代“纔子”的形象。然後說“宅男”正在成為中國女性新的擇偶理想對象。你是基丁嗎？

緒論中的新加坡華裔女性：“中國男人有男性氣質？”嗬嗬…… 準備看作者發奮反擊，作者說電視劇《半路夫妻》和《亮劍》中的男爺們（……）、說西方影響讓中國男性有瞭“品味”的覺悟（……）、說網絡“宅男”是書生氣的網民想和理想的女性談戀愛，並和憤青做瞭比較…… 看到這裏，發現結論貌似是gay纔是中國男性未來的希望…… ＃用來自省還是值得四星的＃

這本書包括瞭宋耕之間對於men's life magazine和電視劇的masculinity的分析研究。有瞭太多對於文人的男性氣質的研究，但是宅男=文人或許是不太贊同的。覺得還是需要有更多empirical research去補充Chinese masculinity in contemporary China.

這真的我沒看完也快不想看完瞭寫得真的太 idk 爛瞭對不起但是我真的很按照我自己的標準衡量瞭真的爛
