Talthybius的形象意外地好看，一方麵作為希臘兵士對特洛伊戰俘們不能留情麵，另一方麵作為個體的人又對苦難中的fellow creature抱有超越種族的同情，如此一下立體起來。Intro中藉用Stanley Fish "self-consuming artifacts"的錶達很有見地地分析瞭Hecuba與Helen舌戰一齣前者錶麵更勝一籌的理性論辯隱含的深層問題——觀者已然知道後者纔是這齣舌戰中的真正贏傢，Hecuba的雄辯因而在觀者麵前反諷地揭示齣諸神的moral inscrutability（我們實在無法用理性揣度宇宙運行的法則）。
