评分作者认为政治的本质是socialization of conflicts，而其结果取决于其scope。只有政党才能获得最大scope，于是政党政治成为政治主流。作者认为竞争是人民主权的必要因素，但高估了弱势群体参与竞争的程度，故对资本操控政治抱有乐观态度，似认为半主权就已经是胜利
