1998年康奈尔清史工作坊的论文集。粗读了一下。序言提到了清帝国面对地方特性（如非汉族特点）时的“适应”(accomodation)，也采用了征服精英的概念，但没重点提罗友枝。Borderland更多是在关注东南和西南，新疆仅一篇。梁元生有篇候补官员的文章值得细读，很少见有清史论文会关注品位性官号的。
