这本书和作者的同名纪录片让这些人物的故事更加丰满，更具多面性。纪录片里更多感受到即使老去，能努力寻找生命的意义。书里则十分详尽地描述老人们在养老中心各种经历和老年生活的感受，死亡和衰老的阴影一直静静地在叙事背景里。作者写这本书的时候，自己也被确诊癌症，我想除了老去，她也在思考生死的问题。不论是对于作者，还是养老中心的老人们，记忆是生命的一种延续。
