以動物之名對於西方哲學，思想史進行的迴望，由於本篇係一篇初級性質講座的講稿，因此很多內容不過是淺嘗輒止，例如沒有論及達爾文，拉馬剋，柏格森等等。但是不難發現Simondon關於技術個體性到動物個體性研究的遷移，可以作為哲學或者Simondon技術哲學理論入門之作來看。

很簡明扼要的梳理，亞裏士多德一節好，齣於心理科學的學科定位和思考而追尋到哲學根源，對西濛棟而言，重要的問題不是同不同意笛卡爾式的理解，因為這種理解已經被笛卡爾主義者進行瞭曆史延異，西濛棟想要跳齣笛卡爾主義的偏見但沒有全然否定笛卡爾的思想，辯證理解很必要，但他也注意到瞭辯證理解使得人類也陷入瞭自己的辯證圈中。

雖然講的是人-動物，但感覺很多可以用來看人-技術之間的關係。斯蒂格勒藉鑒瞭很多西濛棟的靈感，比如關於“個體性”作為是“靈魂的品質”；比如關於“心理的-器官的-社會的”劃分，以及人-物平等的底色。而我們研究物，恰恰是希望理解人。
