评分作为The Giver三部曲的第二部，Lowry Lois并没有将The Giver的世界铺开深入描写，而是描述了另一种社会形态:village，通过拥有缝纫天赋的残障女孩kira的经历一点点揭开village背后的黑暗运作。但是正如The Giver，小说中打动人心的不是新颖的社会结构，而是孩子们勇敢，善良的心，但是在剧情刚刚展开时作者却结束了本书，看来只有看完第三部The Messenger才能知道后续的发展了。但相比起The Giver，Gathering Blue还是太平淡了一点，不如The Giver来的引人入胜。
