评分情节性和可读性强。Delillo的文字本身就给人一种过于现代的不安感，有时夹杂着一种pretentious（人与人之间的以及人与环境之间的；他有意识并加以嘲讽的）的燥热。只有Wilder的存在让人感觉真实而丰满，尽管相对着笔不多。很多谈话并不新颖或是深入。关于killer和dier还有nature的讨论也许是最喜欢的地方，为后面略荒诞的情节很好地铺垫。中后部有一种强烈的theorize的倾向，反倒generalize了另一些现象，不敢苟同，减弱了之前营造的虚无感。对于the airborne toxic event和后来检测较为不了了之的态度是一种不错的处理。
