Written as a way to “speak” to her autistic sons, this is much more than just a book of poems. It is a secret kept between friends. It is a story of love, and of trusting in faith. The most intimate feelings are expressed in these honest, and familiarly painful, written words. This, ironically, is the least intimate form of expression. It is because of this balance, or paradox, her words live on, far beyond. When you finish the book, you will feel you have made a friend. This friend is close, and far away. With this, there is a promise of both a connection and an impasse. This is the hardest goodbye.
