As Matthew Arnold wrote in his celebrated essay on Tolstoy, "We are not to take Anna Karenina as a work of art; we are to take it as a piece of life."
著者簡介
列夫·托爾斯泰(1828～1910)，俄羅斯文學大師。他以自己一生的辛勤創作，登上瞭當時歐洲批判現實主義文學的高峰，在世界文學中占有重要的地位。他描繪瞭俄羅斯民眾廣闊的生活場景，被稱為“俄國革命的一麵鏡子”。代錶作為《戰爭與和平》《安娜·卡列尼娜》和《復活》。
草嬰，原名盛峻峰，著名學者、翻譯傢。草嬰先生係統地翻譯瞭列夫·托爾斯泰全部小說作品，包括三個長篇（《戰爭與和平》《安娜·卡列尼娜》和《復活》）、六十多個中短篇和自傳體小說。

Though some of the ideas and social conventions depicted in the book seem distant and unrelatable to me, I do appreciate the sincerity with which some of the main characters live their lives, and the faith in goodness. The development of Levin is so dear to me that I could hear trumpets blowing and hymns rising at his final epiphany ????
