This is a novel of adventure, a roman courtois, that tells the story of Angelo, a nobleman who has been forced to leave Italy because of a duel, and is returning to his homeland by way of Provence. But that region is in the grip of a cholera epidemic, travelers are being imprisoned behind barricades, and exposure to the disease is almost certain.

Angelo's escapades, adventures, and heroic self-sacrifice in this hot, hallucinatory landscape, among corpses, criminals and rioting townspeople, share this epic tale.

著者简介

让·吉奥诺（Jean Giono），（1895—1970）法国小说家。1915年参加第一次世界大战，1919年复员回到故乡马诺斯克，1935年投入反军国主义的斗争。他于1921年开始文学创作，1953年因在文学创作上的斐然成就荣获摩纳哥文学大奖，1954年当选为龚古尔文学院院士。

看了本巴顿奇事电影并感觉良好的同学，大可以来看看这本屋顶轻骑兵。 它们都属于那类平淡的故事。 我的这本书本属于一个哥们，后来很随意地送给了我 我翻开封面，有X大图书馆藏书的蓝色印章 而那哥们根本就不读书，看来不是窃书之人 这本书也有着漫长的旅程，我这儿注定不是终点

《屋顶上的轻骑兵》中描写的绝不是真正的霍乱，流行疫病在书中只是一个象征、一个隐喻。事实上，从头到尾，所有人物感染霍乱的情境都很不写实，比如安杰洛和无数病患接触，帮他们擦身治疗，甚至在被霍乱灭门的大宅子里生活了一段时间，却从未感染。霍乱放大了自私、仇恨、恐惧...

伟大的作品需要配上伟大的翻译 先看了同名电影，一部被埋没了的上乘之作。年轻时看过录像带，现在各大视频网站居然都没能找到资源。买了这部小说，一是回忆电影情节，二是借文学之美寻求慰藉。人类重大灾难中展现相对渺小的个人经历，却又是成为划破死寂阴暗的一抹微光。 奈何...
