Wharton broke the conventions of women’s romantic fiction by making Charity a thoroughly independent modern woman—in touch with her emotions and sexuality, yet kept from love and the larger world she craves by the overwhelming pressures of heredity and society.
Praised for its realism and honesty by such writers as Joseph Conrad and Henry James and compared to Flaubert’s Madame Bovary , Summer remains as fresh and powerful a novel today as when it was first written.

這是一本難得的讀的順心的讓人感到安靜的小說，可是讀到瞭最後竟然還以為是一本結局圓滿的好故事，結果卻是一個女孩的悲劇故事，唉，我這算是沒看懂嗎？不過這是一本無論如何值得一讀的好書。

评分失落小愛情
评分作者的文筆非常優美，但故事老套又討厭。要談愛情，女性首先要獨立吧，不管是金錢還是感情上。
评分愛上瞭開始，沒有愛上結局。景色的描寫非常優美。
