心理描写有茨威格般的细腻，叙事间夹杂的那些评述很耐人寻味啊

I read the 1920s edition of this piece at Beida 10 years ago. The yellowed and crisp pages easliy brought me back in to the days of the late 19th century.

如果真的可以从事翻译职业的话，这是我目前为止想最想翻译的第一本小说。Sister Carrie前半部分写的真的特别好、一度觉得自己的风格和Dreiser很像。但从Carrie被“拐跑”这里开始，就更注重情节发展而忽略了人的性格和心里刻画。我猜想，也有可能是作者在提醒我们现实越来越险恶，面对失业和贫穷，我们已经无法再去在乎内心的感受了吧。
