作者本人除瞭是影評人以外，還是法國著名的電影音樂人。雖然書中並沒有花費大量篇幅解釋電影音樂，但是Chion提到瞭片中使用Charles Ives的The Unanswered Question片段，並認為Hans Zimmer從中得到靈感。還是挺有趣的。此外，這本書的結構是個大問題，就跟電影一樣，感覺如果不是特彆感興趣的話，很難讀完。最後，書中沒有提到Martin Heidegger，甚至anthropocentrism，給人一種作者並不瞭解導演個人經曆的感覺。
