具體描述
玉器是我國傳世文物中的一個重要門類。據文獻記載和考古發掘錶明，我國早在距今7000多年前的新石器時代就已知道利用天然玉料製作精細的工具和裝飾品。從茲以降，采用的材料逐漸擴展，雕琢的技術不斷提高，製作的工藝日趨精美，其傳統綿延不絕，一脈傳承到近現代。一些製玉的習語，如切磋、琢磨等還成為習見的詞匯，融入瞭我們的語言之中。相比照之下，世界上的一些古代民族雖然也早就知道製造玉器，但到瞭奴隸社會時就大多逐步
著者簡介
周南泉，男，生於1936年10月，廣東省興寜縣大坪鄉小坑村人。
1964年畢業於中山大學曆史係。1964年入北京故宮博物館，從事文物考古與展覽研究工作至今。
現為北京故宮博物院研究員、中國寶玉石協會常務理事、寶玉石鑒定專業委員會委員、中國工藝美術協會會中、中國博物館協會會員、北京玉器研究會副會長、中國玉雕藝術協會顧問。
主要從事中國古玉器之研究、鑒定、講課和展覽工作；兼研古代工藝美術品。
