总体写得很不错，对英格兰乡村的社会分化和虚伪积郁观察细致。作者是讲故事的高手。可以理解为什么《每日邮报》书评将其形容为“披着小说外衣的社会主义宣言”。
评分刚开始读这本书我犯了三个错误：太过于强调作者是写过哈利波特的罗琳，开头读得太慢人物没有及时理清楚，也就没能很早融到故事中去，没有心理准备这不是一本类型小说。所以读的过程中都有些失望，或者说是一头雾水，直到最后的一百页才开始找到点感觉。加上对英国议会制度和社保医疗制度不是很了解，pagford小镇的生活离我的生活太远，这样一个封闭，人与人之间都有联系的小镇存在于21世纪，总是给我有些时空错乱的感觉。我觉得这本书和《杀死一只知更鸟》感觉有些类似，故事性不是很强，但是人物的刻画非常细致，鲜明。对于底层的阶级或种族有很深的挖掘和展示，有很强的阶级分明，并且要读到最后才能感受的这本书的着力点所在，读完后不知道结局是悲是喜，只是有些闷闷的感觉。

评分罗琳写的乡村是浓缩的社会，充满了政治斗争、地域歧视、家庭问题和精神病，虽然写社会写成年人的爱与恨，她始终没放下的还是受伤的少年的心。每家都有恶心的事，每家都有受伤的孩子。我在想书里最幸福的孩子Lexie是不是真的像书里简单描述的那样，也许她早就洞察了一切。
